Mother & Son Fun Night

While we have our event for fathers and daughters in February, what about one for mothers and their sons? Well, the wait is over with our Mother & Son Fun Night at the CHASCO Family YMCA in Round Rock. Set for Friday, June 7 from 6-8pm at the Y, this evening event is open to mothers and their sons between the ages of 3-12yrs (3-year-olds must be fully potty-trained) and will include a wide array of age-appropriate activities (including Sports Games, Sack Races, Ping Pong, Washers, Ladder Golf, Snack Building, Dance Off, Prizes and more) throughout the Y.

Cost for Y Members is only $15 for each mom and son pair ($5 for each added son), while Non-Members pay $20 for each mom and son pair ($7 for each added son). Notably, child care is available to Y Family Members for younger siblings through the Free Family Friday program only. Additionally, if you need an extra set of hands for multiple sons, you can "Adopt a Grandma" for FREE at the event.

Rock Rugby Clinic

Are you ready for some rugby? That’s right – the fifth annual Rock Rugby Clinic sponsored by Rock Chiropractic is set to return to the CHASCO Family YMCA from June 17-21 and we want to see you there. Running from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on each of those days at Stony Point High School in Round Rock (1801 Tiger Trail), this five-day clinic, which is open to boys and girls between the ages of 8-13, will teach participants the fundamentals of rugby. Each participant will not only receive a clinic shirt and rugby ball, but will have a chance to participate in a touch rugby tournament, a skills competition and enjoy a pizza celebration to conclude the week. Cost for the clinic is $75 per child (which is equal to only $15 per day) and all proceeds go to benefit the Y’s Strong Kids Campaign. TWIN LAKES FAMILY YMCA

On May 23, 2013, the Twin Lakes Family YMCA received accolades from the annual reader’s poll conducted by the Hill Country News. Each year, this local newspaper salutes top businesses in the Cedar Park / Leander area with its “Best of the Best” awards. The winners are determined by readers, who vote in a wide range of categories in order to trumpet their favorite area businesses. This year, the Twin Lakes Family YMCA was voted both "Best Gym" and "Best Organization / Club". 

CHASCO FAMILY YMCA

At the end of May, the CHASCO Family YMCA received a 2013 Best of Round Rock Award in the Child Care classification. Each year, across the greater Round Rock area, the Round Rock Award Program chooses the best local businesses to earn the honor of being named one of the Best of Round Rock in a wide range of areas. The award program focuses on companies that have demonstrated their ability to use various marketing methods to grow their business in spite of difficult economic times. The companies selected for honors exemplify the best of small business; often leading through customer service and community involvement.

Adult Sports Leagues

Adult Sports Leagues for Men’s Basketball, Coed Volleyball and Men's 35 & Older Basketball are now forming for summer at the CHASCO Family YMCA. Our adult summer league begins during the week of July 8 for all three sports and includes eight weekly games followed by a Top 4 team single-elimination postseason tournament. Open registration runs through May 31. All registrations submitted after that date will be subject to a $25 late fee. The leagues are in place … the only question you have to ask yourself is whether you have game?

Preschool Tumbling

Our six-week Preschool Tumbling program, which is open to preschool boys as well as girls and is being offered at both the CHASCO Family YMCA in Round Rock and the Taylor Family YMCA this summer, is dedicated to working on a variety of age-appropriate tumbling skills that are great for developing basic motor skills and enhancing body motion and overall coordination. Y Afterschool 2013-2014

That is right ... it's time to register for Y Afterschool during the 2013-2014 school year as open registration is in full swing!

Designed to ensure safety for children (Kinder – 5th Grade) while promoting healthy physical and emotion growth, helping working families and inspiring children to learn, the Y Afterschool Program strives to assist each child reach their full potential by offering a positive and enriching environment that encourages the development of character, leadership and cooperative spirit. Y Afterschool, which runs on weekdays from the time that school ends until 6:30 p.m., is also offered at convenient sites in Hutto, Leander, Liberty Hill, Round Rock, Taylor and Thrall ISDs.

Mother's Day Out

Now is the time to register for the Y’s Mother’s Day Out program during the 2013-2014 school year at the Ys in Cedar Park, Round Rock and Taylor! Offered twice each week, Mother’s Day Out provides the building blocks of learning for young children. Our curriculum includes art, story time, science and special activities. While Member Registration begins on Saturday, April 27, Open Registration kicks off on Saturday, May 4. Sports Complex Ribbon Cutting

On Wednesday, March 27, the YMCA of Greater Williamson County in partnership with the City of Round Rock and the Texas Baptist Children's Home held a ribbon cutting event to unveil the new Mays Street Sports Complex in Round Rock.

With a number of local dignitaries as well as staff on hand, the complex was revealed to the public and officially named the Boles Family Sports Complex in honor of long-time Round Rock resident and YMCA of Greater Williamson County Founding Member Jim Boles. The complex not only includes multiple concession stands and restroom facilities, but also houses a full playground to go along with a Tango Tower and expertly-designed fields for baseball, t-ball, football and soccer. Additionally, the entire facility is also lighted for evening use. While the Y will maintain and utilize the complex for their youth and adult leagues as well as various day camps and other programs throughout the year, the City of Round Rock as well as the Texas Baptist Children's Home will also have time allotted for their respective recreational sports leagues.

High 5 The Y

You can lend them a hand! Just High 5 the Y with a donation to the annual Strong Kids Campaign at your local Y and make an immediate difference in your community. Every dollar raised through this annual campaign goes to help those in financial need participate in Y programs. And that need continues to grow as the Y provided over 13,000 financial aid scholarships to Williamson County residents in the last year alone which totaled over $700,000.
