AFTERSCHOOL 2010-2011 REGISTRATION

The 2010-2011 school year is upon us and that means, if you haven’t done so already, it’s time to register for YMCA Afterschool! Designed to ensure safety for children (grades K-5) while promoting healthy physical and emotion growth, helping working families and inspiring children to learn, the YMCA Afterschool Program strives to assist each child reach their full potential by offering a positive and enriching environment that encourages the development of character, leadership and cooperative spirit. YMCA Afterschool, which runs on weekdays from the time that school ends until 6:30 p.m., is also offered at convenient sites in Round Rock, Leander, Pflugerville, Taylor, Hutto, Liberty Hill and Thrall ISDs. Registration for the 2010-2011 academic year is in full swing, so hurry and sign up today!

SWIM LESSONS

Believe it or not, it’s time to start thinking about Fall Swim Lessons! That’s right – registration for fall lessons (through Dec.) is underway. YMCA Family Members can begin signing up on the 1st of each month for next month’s lessons, while past participants can do the same on the 7th and everyone else as of the 15th. So don’t let your pool fun at the Rabb Family Natatorium in Round Rock end with the conclusion of summer, there is much more to be had. And don’t forget … our community natatorium, like all YMCA facilities and programs, is not only open to YMCA Members but the ENTIRE COMMUNITY. That's right - you don't have to be a member to enjoy everything the YMCA has to offer, including the natatorium with its variety of swim lessons, pool parties and water fitness classes. MOTHER’S DAY OUT

If you haven’t done so already, now is the perfect time to register for the CHASCO Family YMCA’s Mother’s Day Out program! This holistic child care program (offered Mondays & Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. for children six weeks of age through pre-kindergarten) provides kids with new activities each time that they visit in order to assure that they are having fun while learning. The program’s curriculum includes art, science, math, reading and key social as well as developmental skills. ADULT SPORTS FALL LEAGUES

Adult Sports Leagues for Men’s Basketball & Coed Volleyball are ramping up for fall at the CHASCO Family YMCA. Open registration begins Aug. 2 and runs through Aug. 20 (of note – all registrants as of Aug. 21 will have to pay a $20 late fee). While league play begins during the week of Sept. 27 for both Volleyball Basketball, each season includes weekly games for eight weeks followed by a Top 4 Team Single-Elimination Tournament. YOUTH FITNESS CLASSES

Looking for a way to spark your kids interest in fitness? Well, look no further than the CHASCO Family YMCA! Our ZumbAtomic class and Hula Hooping Hour are great ways to put the fun back in fitness for your kids. While ZumbAtomic (open to ages 5-14) is the kids version of Zumba that combines high-energy music and dance for a unique fitness experience, the Hula Hooping Hour (open to ages 3-8) is a ”twisting” way to have fun with your exercise.
