Burnet Summer Camp

You heard right -- Y Summer Camp is returning to Burnet! In addition to the numerous summer camp offerings and locations that the Y already has in place this year, the Y will once again be offering summer camp at the Galloway-Hammond Recreation Center in Burnet. This camp, which is open to both boys and girls (5-12 yrs.) and will be based at the Galloway-Hammond Recreation Center located at 1601 South Water Street in Burnet, will run weekdays from 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. from June 10 - Aug. 23. Children attending this camp will enjoy swimming, hiking, arts & crafts, field trips, sports and much more. Cost is only $90 per child per week and, as always, financial assistance is available for those who qualify. Rock Rugby Clinic

Are you ready for some rugby? That’s right – the fifth annual Rock Rugby Clinic sponsored by Rock Chiropractic is set to return to the CHASCO Family YMCA from June 17-21 and we want to see you there. Running from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on each of those days at Stony Point High School in Round Rock (1801 Tiger Trail), this five-day clinic, which is open to boys and girls between the ages of 8-13, will teach participants the fundamentals of rugby. Each participant will not only receive a clinic shirt and rugby ball, but will have a chance to participate in a touch rugby tournament, a skills competition and enjoy a pizza celebration to conclude the week. Cost for the clinic is $75 per child (which is equal to only $15 per day) and all proceeds go to benefit the Y’s Strong Kids Campaign. TWIN LAKES FAMILY YMCA

On May 23, 2013, the Twin Lakes Family YMCA received accolades from the annual reader’s poll conducted by the Hill Country News. Each year, this local newspaper salutes top businesses in the Cedar Park / Leander area with its “Best of the Best” awards. The winners are determined by readers, who vote in a wide range of categories in order to trumpet their favorite area businesses. This year, the Twin Lakes Family YMCA was voted both "Best Gym" and "Best Organization / Club". 

CHASCO FAMILY YMCA

At the end of May, the CHASCO Family YMCA received a 2013 Best of Round Rock Award in the Child Care classification. Each year, across the greater Round Rock area, the Round Rock Award Program chooses the best local businesses to earn the honor of being named one of the Best of Round Rock in a wide range of areas. The award program focuses on companies that have demonstrated their ability to use various marketing methods to grow their business in spite of difficult economic times. The companies selected for honors exemplify the best of small business; often leading through customer service and community involvement.

Mother's Day Out

Now is the time to register for the Y’s Mother’s Day Out program during the 2013-2014 school year at the Ys in Cedar Park, Round Rock and Taylor! Offered twice each week, Mother’s Day Out provides the building blocks of learning for young children. Our curriculum includes art, story time, science and special activities. While Member Registration begins on Saturday, April 27, Open Registration kicks off on Saturday, May 4. Teen Court

Teen Court is a volunteer learning program for teens (between the ages of 13-17) from any school district in which they will not only be taught and work as an attorney, bailiff and judge in real court hearings, but will actually help determine the sentence of real cases involving teens filed in either Justice Court or Municipal Court. In this forum, individual cases are defended and prosecuted by teen attorneys in front of a teen judge and the verdict is rendered by a jury of teens. Teen Court is also a voluntary program holding teenaged defendants (persons between the ages of 10 and 17 who have received a Class C misdemeanor, plead guilty or no contest, have not been before Teen Court within the last two years and have received permission from a judge and a parent to participate in the program) accountable for their offenses by allowing them to perform community service, to serve jury duty and to attend educational programs in lieu of paying fines for Class C misdemeanors.

The Williamson County Teen Court is a partnership between Judge Edna Staudt, Justice of the Peace, Pct. 2, and the YMCA of Greater Williamson County. The Teen Court is also run and supervised by many adult volunteers – such as lawyers, judges, educators and parents. Of note, Teen Court programs have consistently proven effective in reducing the rate of teen repeat offenses. Participation in this Teen Court program gives teens an opportunity to realize their roles in the community, instills a sense of pride and responsibility and, through the use of positive peer pressure, helps create a better community for all.

Teen Court is held at the Justice County Courtroom in the Williamson County Annex at 350 Discovery Blvd. in Cedar Park. Training sessions and court dates are held monthly (download the schedule on the right for specific dates) from 6:30 p.m. – 8:45 p.m. Of note, staff should arrive between 6:00 p.m. – 6:15 p.m. on court nights. Facility Groundbreaking

On Friday, March 8, the City of Hutto and the YMCA of Greater Williamson County officially broke ground for the new Hutto Family YMCA. The event took place on the future site of the new Y, which is west of Lowe's on County Road 165 in Hutto. A number of community residents and city leaders as well as Y staff and other dignitaries were on hand to celebrate this historic event, which marks the start of a project that will culminate in a new Y that will serve more than 7,000 people annually in Hutto. During the groundbreaking, a $25,000 check was also presented to the Hutto Family YMCA Capital Campaign by Temia Kerley on behalf of her brother, Jeremy Kerley, who is a Hutto resident and a wide receiver for the New York Jets.

TWIN LAKES FAMILY YMCA

On May 23, 2013, the Twin Lakes Family YMCA received accolades from the annual reader’s poll conducted by the Hill Country News. Each year, this local newspaper salutes top businesses in the Cedar Park / Leander area with its “Best of the Best” awards. The winners are determined by readers, who vote in a wide range of categories in order to trumpet their favorite area businesses. This year, the Twin Lakes Family YMCA was voted both "Best Gym" and "Best Organization / Club". 

CHASCO FAMILY YMCA

At the end of May, the CHASCO Family YMCA received a 2013 Best of Round Rock Award in the Child Care classification. Each year, across the greater Round Rock area, the Round Rock Award Program chooses the best local businesses to earn the honor of being named one of the Best of Round Rock in a wide range of areas. The award program focuses on companies that have demonstrated their ability to use various marketing methods to grow their business in spite of difficult economic times. The companies selected for honors exemplify the best of small business; often leading through customer service and community involvement.

Burnet Summer Camp

You heard right -- Y Summer Camp is returning to Burnet! In addition to the numerous summer camp offerings and locations that the Y already has in place this year, the Y will once again be offering summer camp at the Galloway-Hammond Recreation Center in Burnet. This camp, which is open to both boys and girls (5-12 yrs.) and will be based at the Galloway-Hammond Recreation Center located at 1601 South Water Street in Burnet, will run weekdays from 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. from June 10 - Aug. 23. Children attending this camp will enjoy swimming, hiking, arts & crafts, field trips, sports and much more. Cost is only $90 per child per week and, as always, financial assistance is available for those who qualify. Adult Sports Leagues

Adult Sports Leagues for Men’s Basketball, Coed Volleyball and Men's 35 & Older Basketball are now forming for summer at the CHASCO Family YMCA. Our adult summer league begins during the week of July 8 for all three sports and includes eight weekly games followed by a Top 4 team single-elimination postseason tournament. Open registration runs through May 31. All registrations submitted after that date will be subject to a $25 late fee. Preschool Tumbling

Don't miss our first-ever Summer Slam - Girls Softball Fast-Pitch Tournament at the Taylor Sportsplex (210 Carlos Parker Blvd. in Taylor) from Saturday, June 29 - Sunday, June 30. Open to girls 10yrs & under, 12yrs & under and 14yrs & under, this tournament includes four guaranteed games per team and has a 10-team maximum per age group. Teen Court

Teen Court is a volunteer learning program for teens (between the ages of 13-17) from any school district in which they will not only be taught and work as an attorney, bailiff and judge in real court hearings, but will actually help determine the sentence of real cases involving teens filed in either Justice Court or Municipal Court. In this forum, individual cases are defended and prosecuted by teen attorneys in front of a teen judge and the verdict is rendered by a jury of teens. Teen Court is also a voluntary program holding teenaged defendants (persons between the ages of 10 and 17 who have received a Class C misdemeanor, plead guilty or no contest, have not been before Teen Court within the last two years and have received permission from a judge and a parent to participate in the program) accountable for their offenses by allowing them to perform community service, to serve jury duty and to attend educational programs in lieu of paying fines for Class C misdemeanors.

The Williamson County Teen Court is a partnership between Judge Edna Staudt, Justice of the Peace, Pct. 2, and the YMCA of Greater Williamson County. The Teen Court is also run and supervised by many adult volunteers – such as lawyers, judges, educators and parents. Of note, Teen Court programs have consistently proven effective in reducing the rate of teen repeat offenses. Participation in this Teen Court program gives teens an opportunity to realize their roles in the community, instills a sense of pride and responsibility and, through the use of positive peer pressure, helps create a better community for all.

Teen Court is held at the Justice County Courtroom in the Williamson County Annex at 350 Discovery Blvd. in Cedar Park. Training sessions and court dates are held monthly (download the schedule on the right for specific dates) from 6:30 p.m. – 8:45 p.m. Of note, staff should arrive between 6:00 p.m. – 6:15 p.m. on court nights. On Wednesday, March 27, the YMCA of Greater Williamson County in partnership with the City of Round Rock and the Texas Baptist Children's Home held a ribbon cutting event to unveil the new Mays Street Sports Complex in Round Rock.

With a number of local dignitaries as well as staff on hand, the complex was revealed to the public and officially named the Boles Family Sports Complex in honor of long-time Round Rock resident and YMCA of Greater Williamson County Founding Member Jim Boles. The complex not only includes multiple concession stands and restroom facilities, but also houses a full playground to go along with a Tango Tower and expertly-designed fields for baseball, t-ball, football and soccer. Additionally, the entire facility is also lighted for evening use. While the Y will maintain and utilize the complex for their youth and adult leagues as well as various day camps and other programs throughout the year, the City of Round Rock as well as the Texas Baptist Children's Home will also have time allotted for their respective recreational sports leagues.

Mother & Son Fun Night

While we have our event for fathers and daughters in February, what about one for mothers and their sons? Well, the wait is over with our Mother & Son Fun Night at the CHASCO Family YMCA in Round Rock. Set for Friday, June 7 from 6-8pm at the Y, this evening event is open to mothers and their sons between the ages of 3-12yrs (3-year-olds must be fully potty-trained) and will include a wide array of age-appropriate activities (including Sports Games, Sack Races, Ping Pong, Washers, Ladder Golf, Snack Building, Dance Off, Prizes and more) throughout the Y.

Cost for Y Members is only $15 for each mom and son pair ($5 for each added son), while Non-Members pay $20 for each mom and son pair ($7 for each added son). Notably, child care is available to Y Family Members for younger siblings through the Free Family Friday program only. Additionally, if you need an extra set of hands for multiple sons, you can "Adopt a Grandma" for FREE at the event.
